Short answers to common questions about making films in Drama Studio. Each answer links to the page with the details.

Getting started

Do I need a paid plan?

Not to start. Chat, script breakdown, locking and building the storyboard are free, and new accounts get a 160-credit sign-up bonus. To render scenes with the studio's default video model, and to make voices or music, you need a paid plan. See Free accounts.

Can I use a script I already wrote?

Yes. Attach it in the chat as TXT, MD, Fountain, FDX, DOC, DOCX or PDF, up to 4 MB and 180,000 characters. See Upload a screenplay.

What language will my film be in?

English, unless you ask for another language. The language you chat in doesn't change it: to get dialogue in another language, say so when you describe the story. Likewise, stories are set in the present-day US or a Western setting unless you name a place and era, and an episode the assistant writes runs about two minutes unless you ask for a different length.

What shape is the video?

New films are vertical (9:16) at 720p. You can change the resolution in any scene's settings; it applies to the whole film.

Script and story

Can I change the script after locking it?

No. Locking the breakdown is final. Make every story change before you choose Approve and lock the breakdown. See Lock the script.

What is the difference between /breakdown-script and /script-breakdown?

/breakdown-script is the fast breakdown and suits most scripts. /script-breakdown is slower and also checks the breakdown against your script. Attaching a script without a command uses the fast one.

Video

How long can a scene be?

With the default model, Seedance 2.5, from 4 to 30 seconds. Other models have their own limits, which the Duration list shows when you pick them.

Why render more than one take?

AI video varies from render to render. Rendering 2 to 4 takes of an important scene lets you pick the best one. Each take is charged separately.

How do I keep a character looking the same in every scene?

Give the character a reference picture in the Assets tab, and make sure the scene uses it as a reference. The same works for backgrounds and props.

Why can't I export my episode?

Every scene needs a chosen take first. The studio lists the scenes that are missing one. An episode can be up to 10 minutes long, or 3 minutes if its clips were rendered in different formats. See Export the episode.

Download links last a few minutes. Export the episode again; it's free.

Credits

Does chatting with the assistant cost credits?

No. Chat is always free. Only the things the assistant makes for you cost credits, and paid video, voice and music steps always show you a price card first.

How much does an episode cost?

It depends mostly on the total length of video you render. With the default model at 720p, video costs 67.6 credits per second, so 60 seconds of finished video with one take per scene is about 4,056 credits. See Budgeting a film.

Do I get credits back if a render fails?

Yes. Failures on our side are refunded automatically. See Refunds.

Where can I see what a project has cost?

Open the project's Usage panel. It shows the credits spent on the project, by stage, and the most recent charges.

Content and safety

My scene was blocked by the safety check. Was I charged?

No. A blocked prompt or upload is never charged, and a blocked result is refunded. Change the prompt or the reference picture and try again. See Content rules.

Can I use photos of real people?

Only with their permission. Every visible face in an upload must belong to someone who has agreed. Video providers may also reject pictures that look like real people.

Publishing

Can I publish my film on Wandura from the studio?

Not yet. The studio ends at the download, and there is no in-studio publishing, review or earnings. See Publishing your film.

Who owns the films I make?

To the extent the law allows, you own the outputs you generate in your personal space, and you keep the rights to what you upload. Films and outputs made in a workspace belong to that workspace; see Getting started with workspaces. Details are in the Terms of Use.
