Shared film projects and approvals

In a workspace, a Drama Studio film belongs to the workspace, not to one person. A director makes it, editors cut it, and the workspace Owner or an Admin approves the final version. Everyone works from the same media pool: the film's takes, script, characters and audio. Nothing is copied.

Start a film in a workspace

  1. In the sidebar switcher, pick the workspace so it is your Active wallet.
  2. Open Drama Studio and start a new film. It belongs to the workspace, and you are its Director.

Move a personal film into a workspace

The owner of a personal film can move it: open the project menu and choose Move to workspace, then pick the workspace and press Move film.

  • The whole film moves with its episodes, takes, characters and chats, and you become its Director.
  • It can't be moved back.
  • Credits already spent on the film stay on your personal account.
  • You can only move it into a workspace where you are Owner, Admin or Member, and not while one of its generations is still running.

A film's rights never go beyond the person's workspace role: a workspace Viewer can't be added as Director or Editor.

Add people to a film

Open the film and press Team in the project header. Under People, choose someone from the workspace and add them as Director or Editor.

An editor sees the whole film as soon as they are added. They don't have to wait for the hand-off.

The film's stages

The project header shows the workspace and the film's stage: Generating, Editing, In review or Approved.

  1. Hand off to editing. The director (or a producer) tells the editors the film is ready to cut. The director keeps every right.
  2. Send for approval. The director or an editor sends the film for review.
  3. Approve or Send back. The Owner or an Admin approves, or sends it back with an optional note for the director and editors.
  4. Reopen for edits. A producer can reopen an approved film.

Each edit made in the Web Editor also goes through its own approval before it can be exported as final. See Web Editor basics.

Credits on a shared film

Each person pays from their own wallet in the workspace, including when they chat with the assistant or have it write. The Team panel shows the credits each person spent on the film, in credits only.

If your tab is spending a different wallet, the film shows Switch to … first. Nothing is charged until you switch.

Download all

In the Team panel, Download all builds one ZIP of the film for editing elsewhere: the chosen takes named by episode, scene and shot, the script, character images, subtitles and audio. Tick Include alternate takes to add the other takes too.

  • The package is built on our servers; you can keep working while it builds.
  • When it is ready, the download link works for 10 minutes. Press the button again for a new link.
  • A package is kept for 24 hours. After that, build a new one.

Download all is available to the director, editors, the Owner and Admins.

What Viewers and other members see

Once a film is approved, every member of the workspace, including Viewers, can watch and download the approved cut and open its Approved edits with their final exports. The script, takes and drafts stay with the people working on the film.

When someone leaves

If the director leaves the workspace, is removed, is changed to Viewer or deletes their account, the films they led go to the workspace Owner, who becomes their Director. Editors keep working. Takes made by people who left stay in the film.
