# Open video (coming soon)

> **TL;DR** — For videos that need no copyright protection, such as short fitness clips, Wandura is adding a lighter path: your server lists videos with an API key, and your app plays the video links directly with any standard player. No playback tickets, no Player SDK licence, no encryption. **Status: in design — not live yet.** The endpoint below may still change.

> **Warning:** Do not use this path for drama films or any content with rights to protect. Open video links can be played by anyone who has them.

## When to use it
| Use open video for | Use the standard model for |
|---|---|
| Short workout, how-to or demo clips with no rights to protect | Drama films and series |
| Content you are happy to see shared | Anything sold, licensed per film, or behind a paywall |

See [Choose an integration model](https://docs.wandura.ai/developers/integration-models) for the full comparison.

## How it will work
```mermaid
sequenceDiagram
  participant App as Your app
  participant Srv as Your server
  participant W as Wandura API
  participant CDN as Video CDN
  Srv->>W: GET /api/delivery/v1/videos (API key, scope videos:read)
  W-->>Srv: list of videos with 480p and 720p links
  Srv-->>App: your own list
  App->>CDN: play the MP4 link directly
  CDN-->>App: video
```

1. **Register each app, get its key.** On partner.wandura.ai → **Developers** → **Apps**, add each app (name, iOS bundle ID, Android package name). Wandura gives the app its own API key with the `videos:read` scope. Keep it on your server like every other key. See [Authentication](https://docs.wandura.ai/developers/authentication).
2. **List.** Your server calls `GET /api/delivery/v1/videos` and stores the result. Each video comes with its title, duration, poster and a link per quality (480p and 720p MP4).
3. **Play.** Your app plays the link exactly as received, with the platform's standard player (AVPlayer, ExoPlayer, or an HTML `<video>` element). Links are signed and stay valid for **1 hour** from the moment the list is returned (the `expires_at` of each link tells you when). Links are cached close to your viewers.
4. **Refresh.** Your server calls the list again **at least every 45 minutes** and hands your apps the fresh links. Apps always get links from your server when they need them; **never cache links in the app** or store them for later — an expired link stops playing.

> **Note:** Refreshing every 45 minutes is a small list call from your server only. Video plays go straight from the CDN to your viewers and never pass through Wandura.

## What you do not need
- No code in your app to identify itself: the link already carries it.
- No playback tickets and no per-episode requests.
- No Player SDK licence, so no licence fee for this path.
- No device values and no encryption.

## What changes compared with films
- **Anyone with a link can play it** until it expires (at most 1 hour). Only put content here that you are happy to share.
- **Usage is reported per app without any app code.** Each link Wandura hands out is tied to the app whose key requested it, so data usage can be reported per partner and per app. Wandura does not count individual plays; if you need view numbers, record them in your app.
- **Access is per organisation.** Your keys see only the video collections Wandura has granted to your organisation, and only once they are published.
- **Keys are per app.** Revoking one app's key stops new lists for that app only; your other apps keep working. Links already handed out stop working when they expire, within 1 hour.

## Status and next steps
This path is being designed. Ask Wandura if you plan to use it; this page will be updated with the final endpoint, fields and errors when it goes live.
